Apostasy Content Warnings

Having personal experiences with PTSD, I take content warnings seriously. As a writer, I take spoilers seriously. Here’s an attempt at a happy medium.

As readers will have come to expect from this series, Apostasy isn’t a light story. It goes deep into extremely heavy themes, though it is also quite unbearably sweet and comedic at times. There’s a spectrum. I’m not writing misery for misery’s sake.

Broad content warnings: Abuse (child; spousal; emotional; physical; sexual; childhood sexual abuse), rape (including discussion of rape trauma, rape culture and rapists), paedophilia, terrorism & war crimes (including interactions with perpetrators of the crimes), racism, misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, colonialism & genocide (including references to real world cases and re-education institutes), extensive discussion of mental health (trauma and anxiety in particular), suicide, self-harm and self-destructive behaviour, murder, discussions of Christianity and the systemic flaws of organised religion (particularly Catholicism), and a lot of general talk about war, the morality of actions committed in war, and morality in general. The reactions you can anticipate from people living under these conditions or with these experiences are there too. I’m not playing with these themes, I’m exploring their impact.

If you want further details or more specific CWs, feel free to DM me on Twitter or send me an ask on tumblr. I only request that you give me the option to reply privately! Otherwise it’s unfair on people trying to avoid spoilers.
